Treatment

Semaglutide is a modified molecule called a peptide that mimics a peptide our body naturally produces, called a GLP-analog.

Tirzepatide is a combination of the same GLP-analog with the addition of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor.

Both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide simulate the gastric inhibitory polypeptides made by our bodies. Functionally, they stimulate insulin release from the pancreas which leads to a reduction of hyperglycemia. In addition,Tirzepatide also increases the levels of adiponectin. Its dual agonism ability leads to a more significant reduction of hyperglycemia than GLP-1 agonist agents alone and lowers the users appetite.

Both work by increasing insulin production and lowering glucagon secretion. They also target areas in the brain that regulate appetite and food intake.

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide last weeks in our bodies, while the peptide that our bodies produce is gone in minutes. Both are subcutaneous injections administered by our trained staff. Participants in this program will be expected to come into Wilson MD Aesthetics once a week, be weighed, have any symptoms evaluated, and given an injection.

Treatment

Semaglutide & Tirzepatide act in the following ways:

  • Cause a delay in how quickly our stomachs digest food, leading to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes.
  • Slow intestinal motility so you will feel fuller longer after meals.
  • Lower blood sugars, in part by reducing the production of sugar in the liver.
  • Stimulate insulin secretion by the pancreas.

Side Effects/Contraindications
The most common side effects of Semaglutide include nausea, diarrhea, and/or constipation. The most common side effect of Tirzepatide is body aches for one day post-injection. Cleaning up the diet and trying to eat unprocessed foods is highly recommended, especially when receiving Semaglutide & Tirzepatide. Try and stay away from greasy and processed foods. A small amount of B12 is added to the Semaglutide to reduce nausea but we highly encourage a separate Super B Complex injection, that we call SuperMic, with every Semaglutide injection as this has reduced nausea more successfully. Patients also report acid reflux, stomach pain, and vomiting. The risk of serious side effects increases in patients with hypoglycemia, kidney problems, and/or a history of allergic reactions.

**This medication is not insulin and should not be used if you have type 1 diabetes or if you develop diabetic ketoacidosis. Semaglutide & Tirzepatide should not be used with
any other GLP-1 medications.

RISK OF THYROID C-CELL TUMORS. If you or any family members have been diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Syndrome Type 2 or Medullary thyroid cancer you should not take Semaglutide or Tirzepatide. If you have ever had pancreatitis consult with your medical provider as using Semaglutide & Tirzepatide can increase the risk of developing pancreatitis.

  • Decreased appetite and cravings
  • Weight loss
  • Improved blood glucose control

We offer the popular weight loss drugs Semaglutide and Tirzepatide in our Aesthetics office for women who find it difficult or impossible to lose weight on their own. These GLP-1 agonists make weight loss possible for many women who are frustrated with the myriad of other methods they have tried. Our program involves once a week injections of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide. This weekly visit involves a weigh-in and dosing decisions by our experienced and qualified staff as well as a review of any side effects of the drug.

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide act on the brain to regulate the body's hormones, slow digestion, and tamp down hunger. These drugs represent an enormous breakthrough in the fight against the obesity epidemic we are experiencing here in the US.

These weight loss drugs not only work to encourage the body to burn fat, but recent research indicates that they help to stave off cancers including breast, colon, liver, and ovarian- all known to be driven by obesity and excess weight.

One study indicates that the reduction in cancer risk among people taking GLP medications is a whopping 39%.

We do not write prescriptions for these drugs. Self-management of these drugs can result in significant and sometimes life-threatening side effects. We feel that it is important to have experienced staff, in partnership with the patient, make decisions about dosing.

If you are interested in our program, you will need to have standard bloodwork drawn, which can be drawn in our office. Your provider will review your bloodwork and approve you for the program.

The next step is to simply call and make an appointment - and you are on your way to a healthier body!

Patients with a history of pancreatitis, uncontrolled diabetes, thyroid tumors, thyroid cancer, or family history of thyroid cancers/tumors should not take Semaglutide or Tirzepatide.

A thorough lab work up is required prior to starting weight loss injections.
